Scenario
Charles, a retiree, is given a new lease on life when he answers a private detective’s ad and becomes a mole in a secret investigation at a nursing home
after watching the Chilean documentary “The Mole Agent.” He says, “The Mole Agent” documentary is powerful because it makes people feel a remarkably similar feeling regardless of age, ethnicity or gender, and I would describe that feeling in a very reductive way: “I need to call my mom.” In our show, we tried to do something similar with the tone: does our show basically make us feel like we want to call our moms?
Remake of El Agente Topo (2020)
I believe that a lot of novels, by their nature, have a goal of making you think like, “It was an honor to be a part of the lives of these fictional characters.” This show achieves that goal undeniably well.
Kudos to all the departments involved
Even those who come for the mystery, which it has put less emphasis on, should be intrigued by the humanity that comes through not only in the writing but in the performances of all the cast.
Even though Netflix has been tough on series renewals lately, I hope they fulfill the show’s potential by granting them a second season as I hope to see more of these incredible characters
